Shorter URLs would be nice to send around. For example I find this quite long:
Can't we have
http://sketchpad.cc/dZJkbh0jLQ instead? :)8 votes
Thanks for this suggestion. I may use an external URL shortener to do this. If/when I set this up, I’ll definitely let you know!
The server's performance has been iffy during peak times, and need improvement before other features are focused on.6 votes
I agree. This has been a sore point. My apologies.
I like the idea. I’m in the process of planning out a redesign of the lists of sketches in the Studio, and I’ll definitely keep this in mind as do that. Thanks!
If I go to the "home" tab and click one of my sketches, it's read only. I have the option to clone and modify it, but not edit it myself. Confusing!
You should have it use the same URL that appear under the "your sketches" tab whenever the sketch owner is the same as the logged in user.1 vote
Sorry about the confusion. There is an “Edit Sketch” button to the left of the title of any sketch that you created, but this could be more clear. If you aren’t seeing this button on a sketch that should have it, send me the URL and I can try to debug. Thanks!
when multiple lines are selected and you press tab, the lines are erased ! I most IDE it indents the lines to the right (shift tab would left indent)1 vote
This is a limitation of the underlying Etherpad editor, which wasn’t really built for writing code. Code-specific editing functionality is currently limited, and this is an area that is ripe for improvement.
IOS 5 supports contentEditable, yet the site blocks me off still. Am I wrong?1 vote
Thanks for the heads-up on this one. The editor does, in fact, now work in iOS5, but there are two issues remaining. Apparently scrolling doesn’t work in these contenteditable regions, which is unfortunate. Once I have a chance to sort this out, I’ll stop redirecting traffic from MobileSafari.
Looking for a way to share my compliments to the sketch authors/programmers but can't find it easily. If there is a way, then make it easy. If there isn't a way to leave comments, then provide one. thanks11 votes
THe processing IDE has a nice ctrl-t "line everything up". If that's too much, I guess most of the "auto tabbing" editors I use know to unindent one when I type }...23 votes
I agree that both ideas would definitely improve the editor. I’ll take a look at which would be easier to implement, and put that on my list. Much room for improvement in the editor right now…
What if sketchpad could offer another drawing language ? ContextFree.js
See http://azarask.in/projects/algorithm-ink for a demo.3 votes
Thanks for the suggestion! I like the idea, and at some point may expand out to other visualization-oriented languages and packages. Raphaël ( http://raphaeljs.com/ ) might be another good candidate. For now, though, I’ll be sticking with Processing.
Very useful. I’m adding it to my list. May take a while, but it’s on the list.
